Short Sales...

One of the most difficult parts of short sales for the consumer is often the shame and frustration of the homeowner who has found herself in a position of being unable to continue to make payments. Generally, this happens because of medical bills, loss of a partner or the loss of a job. Such situations are difficult enough, but the compounded loss of a home is the "straw that breaks the camel's back." The letter that comes from the bank goes unopened, calls from the lender are ignored...it is all too difficult to face. The homeowner has likely been borrowing from Peter to pay Paul and is completely overwhelmed.

Calling a compassionate, knowledgeable Realtor who is a problem solver and resourceful can be a life saver! The homeowner can hopefully begin to sleep at night knowing they are being proactive rather than reactive. It is not, to be sure, a happy situation, but it is an important step forward. This solution of negotiating with the bank is not something that is done just because a homeowner is tired of their high mortgage payments, they must show the inability to pay is due to an unforeseen hardship. The knowledgeable attorney is their best adviser.
